MotoGP, Gabarrini: "Bagnaia's 23 wins, like Stoner, must mean something"

"The GP24 is better, but Bagnaia and Martin are making the difference. He didn't give it his all in Assen, but that's the real Pecco. I see he's calm and aware of what his capabilities are."

MotoGP: Gabarrini:

Pecco Bagnaia took it all at Assen, and Cristian Gabarrini enjoyed his rider's success. The weekend for the Ducati rider couldn't have gone better than this, as he was praised at the end of the race by his crew chief. The rider from Piedmont proved he was unbeatable, and the Gabarrini exalted his qualities.

"It's never easy," he began. "I think this was a perfect weekend from every aspect. I wouldn't know what else to ask of Pecco, because he was good at keeping his pace throughout the weekend. As far as we saw, he maintained some margin in the race, showing great intelligence. The same intelligence that also accompanied Martin. Looking at his performance, I think Pecco didn't give it his all, but that's the real Bagnaia."

After Holland, Bagnaia has joined Stoner with 23 Ducati triumphs.
"This means something, in my opinion, since Stoner is the most successful Ducati rider. All this means is that Bagnaia is doing really well. I'm very happy because I made my small contribution in Casey's time and, now, I'm doing the same with Pecco. It's a wonderful adventure with the same team but with different riders."

Compared to last year, Bagnaia has further progressed, and Gabarrini confirmed this.
"Every time you start with a new bike and a different rear tire, there can be variables that create havoc. Here, at Assen, we were very good. Now we'll see what happens at the Sachsenring. The fact is, I see that Bagnaia is  calm and aware of his capabilities."

His last comment was about t he difference between the GP23 and the GP24, which many have spoken about.
"The difference is being made by Pecco and Jorge, in comparison with the other riders, without obviously taking anything away from anyone else. The bike is slightly better, and I think this is all due to the work carried out. But, like I said, Bagnaia and Martin are the two fastest, and they're doing the bulk of  the work."
