MotoGP, Quartararo: "In the last sector I was losing 3 tenths, the problem is grip"

"We suffer a lot in terms of grip and unfortunately the bike doesn't turn as well as before and this penalizes us. We are waiting for the Mugello test to have some new parts."

MotoGP: Quartararo:

Amid crashes and falls, Fabio Quartararo secured the top ten in Saturday's Sprint in Barcelona. The Frenchman considers himself half-happy given the nearly 10 seconds picked up from Aleix Espargarò's Aprilia. In this regard, the Yamaha rider draws a very clear and transparant balance of the day.

"Our bike is very sensitive to grip," he said, " when it drops like that it's a problem for us. The pace was what I expected as well as the race, considering that in the last sector I was losing about three tenths. In the end I consider myself half happy."

Fabio then talks about the difficulties.
"I lose a lot in terms of grip and everything then depends on how the bike turns in the corners. In the past turning was our strong point, but now we struggle and the lack of grip penalizes us a lot. I try to ride to the best of my ability, but more than that is difficult. I'm waiting for the Mugello tests so we can continue the development."

Finally, a comment about the tyres.
"The choice of tyre was quite unusual because I used medium on the rear and soft on the front, in fact the sensations are not good. I am someone who lifts off hard and with the soft I don't have great stability. We lack confidence in the front and I think it's the same for everyone given the different crashes."

Echoing his words is Alex Rins.
"It was a tough race, " he commented, "we are following our evolution process to raise the bar even further, but we are still struggling. At the beginning I had a hard time braking the bike with a full tank, although then the situation improved slightly."

Alex's considerations were in line with Fabio's.
"I suffered a lot in terms of traction, especially in the fourth sector starting in Turn 12. We are waiting for the Mugello test, as we will have some new parts to try."
