SBK, Iannone: "Honored by the interest of BMW, after Assen we will know more about my future"

"My current priority is to be at the top to have more opportunities. I'm aiming for an official team and I'm very happy to hear interest from different manufacturers. Winning in Holland? We'll see."

SBK: Iannone:

Almost a month after his crash in Race 2, which ended his weekend in Barcelona prematurely, Andrea Iannone is ready to get his Go Eleven team Ducati V4 back on track to tackle the third round of the season. A Round that will be held on a track well known to the rider from Vasto, that of Assen, where he has always scored good results in the past, especially in the minor classes of MotoGP.

"I am a little bit excited, because it is very nice to be back in Assen after a long time. I'm very happy and thrilled to be able to ride an SBK here starting tomorrow. We'll see how it goes after Montmeló," said The Maniac.

One of the great protagonists of World Superbike since his debut in the championship, Iannone could really come good on the famous Dutch track, bringing the Go Eleven team back to success, after two podiums conquered in Australia and Catalunya.

"I've won here in the past, in my first year in Moto2, and I've also had good races almost every year, but we'll see - commented Andrea, keeping his feet firmly on the ground - It's difficult because it's all new to me this year and usually, before a Grand Prix, you have data from the previous year. This, on the other hand, is the first race we're tackling without testing first, so I'm a little bit concerned because I don't know what's going to happen. I hope we will get off to a good start right away and be at a good level immediately. That is our goal and what we are focused on."

The competitiveness shown in the first outings of the season has already thrust the Abruzzese into the center of the rider market rumors, but the individual concerned does not yet seem to be clear about his future destination.

"I don't know what to say. I am happy and I want to live this moment and stay focused on riding well. That is my priority at the moment, because I know that by staying on top I will have many opportunities. My goal is obviously to be in an official team, but we'll see," said Iannone, also talking about the rumors regarding his possible arrival in BMW: "I am happy to have heard after so long the interest of several manufacturers in me. I am honored, but we will see after Assen. Maybe in Misano we will know more."

Precisely the appointment in Romagna will coincide with one of the big new innovations this season, namely the start of the new Women's World Championship, which will take place within the setting of the Superbike championship.

"I am very excited, especially because it is very good to see that our world is getting closer to women. I think it's like a victory for us, because it's something that has existed for so many years in sports like soccer, whereas in motosport it was hard to imagine. I think it's great for the future," said the Ducatista, "It's definitely going to be hard-fought races, because women are strong and have character, just like my girlfriend who when she gets angry is much more combative than me (smiles), so I'm sure it will be a great show.
