MotoGP, Martin: "All the rumours about my future are just speculation."

"My mind is on the present and doing better and better. Forecast for the weekend? After 25 laps with the same tire I was still going in the low 1'31", so for the Sprint Race I'm aiming for victory. There is room for improvement."

MotoGP: Martin:

First in both sessions, Jorge Martin ended the first day of action at Le Mans justifiably satisfied.

"I can't remember the last time I got a result like that, so I'm happy. We immediately understood what was needed to be fast. Maybe the afternoon session was more treacherous and we had to modify the bike a bit in terms of geometry and balance, something I don't like to do very much, but it helped us improve the base of our set-up. We'll see if we are able to take a further step forward tomorrow," he told us in the heat of the moment. " Overall, I'm happy because I was able to do 25 laps on the same tire and I was still lapping in the low 1'31". That should be enough for me to fight for the win."

The times are all very close. "In qualifying half a second will mean two or three positions of difference, so it will be crucial to identify where to take advantage.I think the Sprint Race will also be quite close. In my opinion the official Ducati riders, Marquez and Acosta, will be the most dangerous, but I didn't pay attention to the others. I tried to look at myself. Was I on the limit? When you set the fastest time it means that you are not going for a walk although you are always trying to push it further - remarked the Spaniard - Did the success of Le Mans in 2023 change me? No, my problem is that I always feel less competitive than the reality, I hope that tomorrow can be different. From what I see I believe there is a margin. We will have to put it all together to make a difference."

Going into detail about his Friday, he admitted, "On the first attempt at a fast lap I made several mistakes, so I decided to calm down a bit and do one more lap than planned. By the third I was lapping in 1'31" which is a very good time. I didn't think I could do better, but then thanks to the tow I did. As I said we'll see if we can take advantage of that little bit extra on Saturday that I think we have. Acosta? If he goes well, he can also fight for the first position in the Sprint."

Asked if the Jerez crash and market rumors were bothering him, the Spaniard replied, "I'm not worried about either of those things. I come here to do my best. The rest is all speculation, while the Jerez crash is now in the past. I just made a wrong trajectory. Vibrations today? Not today or in the test and I hope not even tomorrow."
