Moto2: Ayumu Sasaki successfully operated for compartment syndrome

Ayumu Sasaki's switch to the Moto2 isn't going smoothly. The Yamaha VR46 Master Camp team rookie hasn't scored a single point this season and had to withhdraw from the two Grands Prixs held so far between Qatar and Portugal. A trend that Ayumu hopes to break as early as the next round in Austin, where he'll arrive after undergoing surgery on his forearms, in order to resolve the compartment syndrome problem that affected him during the last race in Portimão.

"After suffering from compartment syndrome last Sunday in the Portuguese GP, I decided to have surgery on my forearms to solve the problem. Now I'll focus on my recovery to get back on track in America," the Japanese rider wrote on his social media channels. "I thank Quiron Salud MotoGP for organizing everything and Dr. Foruria for the successful surgery."

Sasaki is not the first rider in the intermediate class to go under the knife for compartment syndrome in this start of the championship. In fact, less than two weeks ago, Filip Salac also had to undergo the same surgery for problems with his right forearm and, therefore, missing out on last Sunday's GP in Algarve.
