SBK, Sofuoglu: "Toprak will only go to MotoGP if BMW agrees"

The Turkish rider's manager clarifies, "Toprak's desire is to race in MotoGP and he already has offers. To do so, however, we have to get the okay from BMW because we don't want to ruin the relationship with them."

SBK: Sofuoglu:

One of the most talked about topics in recent days is the possible move of Toprak Razgatlioglu to MotoGP in 2025. To the magazine Speedweek, Kenan Sofuoglu had declared that, at the end of the season, his client would move over to the other paddock, having already informed BMW about it.

In the last few hours, however, the former SuperSport champion wanted to shed some light on the subject in an interview with our colleagues at Motorsport.com: "What I would like to say is that Toprak has a two-year contract with BMW until 2025," Kenan pointed out, " he is getting on very well with the bike as well as with the team and he is happy with the results so far. In the last period, however, Toprak has expressed the desire to race in MotoGP, because the Championship has been getting more and more resonance and some manufacturers have come forward, making offers for him. "

Sofuoglu then went into the details of the discussion, "If we wanted, we could go to MotoGP, but our priority is to respect the agreement with BMW," he added, " If BMW agrees, Toprak can race in MotoGPIf not, we will respect the agreement with the Munich company by staying in Superbike. As I said, our priority is to respect the contract with BMW and only if BMW is in favour will Toprak be able to race in MotoGP - he concluded - this is the situation and in the coming days everything will be clearer."

The Toprak-MotoGP soap opera has thus undergone a new twist with Kenan's words of clarification. The knife is now in the hands of the Munich-based manufacturer, as it always has been, since BMW has a two-year contract in his favor. Should he decide to oppose his client's wish, Toprak will be back on track in WorldSBK in 2025 with an M 1000 RR exactly as he was this season.
