MotoGP: Bastianini: “It was traumatic with the wind, it’s all different compared to the Moto2”

Enea Bastianini ended his first day of testing at Phillip Island with a ninth time. The Gresini team rider from Romagna got just over three tenths from the top, and he seems to be lacking confidence. Despite the many pitfalls the wind caused, Enea knows that the weekend has just started, so he’ll need to progress.

The beginning was nothing short of traumatic with the wind,” Enea. “Among other things, I’m even short, and this doesn’t help. The track wasn’t dry this morning, so I had to be careful, but the gusts were stronger in the afternoon. It wasn’t easy, although I’m still satisfied with the work we did.

But they need to progress.
I lack consistency in the laps. I don’t always get the same trajectories. We’ll have to work on the rear, because the moment I lose in exiting corners, I accumulate the disadvantage, taking it with me for the entire lap. Turns one and three are the most important, as is twelve, where we need to progress.”

This is Enea's first time at Phillip Island with a MotoGP.
Compared to the Moto2, it changes a great deal, but the tires help us a lot, since the soft is a big step forward. But I need to better understand the rear. At the moment, the grip isn’t exceptional. I’ll try to figure it out and compare the data with the other Ducatis. I need some time, and I have to assess the conditions for tomorrow, especially with the medium, since I don’t have the sensations I’d like.
