MotoGP, Franco Morbidelli: "I am 3 or 4 tenths away from the best Ducati riders."

The Pramac rider showed progress in Austin on the GP24: "I didn't expect to be ready right away without having done any winter testing, but the progression is going well."

MotoGP: Franco Morbidelli:

Franco Morbidelli still has zero points in the standings, but he has all the extenuating circumstances. The Pramac rider had been forced to skip all the winter testing due to a training accident in Portimao and had to get to know his Ducati on race weekends. Although the results do not reflect it, Morbido is making considerable progress.

In Austin he went straight into Q2 and in Sunday's race he was in the Top 10 when he crashed, also setting the 8th fastest lap. These are encouraging signs, although his lack of experience on the Desmosedici is being felt.

"It was a positive weekend - was his assessment of the Grand Prix of the Americas - Unfortunately in the race I crashed, the conditions were very different, it was very hot and the grip was less than usual. I was used to having a different grip with the Ducati and at Turn 7 I lost the rear completely. The important thing is that the speed was there."

Franco is getting closer to the best, but he knows that the path is still far from complete. "There is still a lot of work to do, I would say I am 3 or 4 tenths away from the best Ducati riders," was his opinion.

All in all, the first 3 GPs of the year have satisfied him. "It's going very well. I didn't expect anything special, after getting on the bike without testing and be okay right away. The progression is going very well and we will start from this point in Jerez," he concluded.
