Angel Piqueras won’t be participating at the start of the three-day official Moto3 tests, which will take place between today and Friday on the Jerez track. Leopard Racing’s rookie from Spain injured his shoulder when training. He wasn’t declared fit by the doctors, so he’ll have to rest and try to recover in time for the first race of the year, scheduled for next week in Qatar.
Lorenzo Dalla Porta will, therefore, be riding for the reigning JuniorGP and Rookies Cup champion during the tests on the circuit named after Angel Nieto, getting back on the Honda of the Italian-Luxembourgian team with which he became Moto3 World Champion in 2019.
The news was announced by the Leopard Racing team on its social media channels: “Angel Piqueras will be skipping the tests in Jerez after being declared unfit. The Spanish rider must recover from an injury he sustained in training and will be replaced for the tests by former Leopard Racing team rider Lorenzo Dalla Porta,” the team wrote. “We wish Angel a quick recovery, and we hope to see him in top form in Qatar.”
