Seeing Honda bikes with Castrol colours immediately bring to the minds of every enthusiast the golden years of SBK, when with that livery Jonh Kocinski, Colin Edwards and Aaron Slight achieved many victories with the RC45 first and the VTR 1000 SP2. In 2024, Johann Zarco will bring the RC213 to the track in those legendary colours.

For the French rider it will be the first year with the LCR and HRC teams. “The confidence to take on this project is coming from the experience I got on all the bikes previously, and last year I understood that I can enjoy even in difficult times. We began 2024 in a good way with Honda, it seems that there are a lot of changes so I’m ready to enjoy – were Johann's words - I want to race to stay on the top and have the chance to feel that I can fight for the podium or even more and with the new bike I have this motivation, I cannot say I have a really clear target, maybe it is to bring back Honda into the top 10 in the world championship. The advantage of LCR compared with a factory team is that we get more contact together with the mechanics and the technicians and we have the factory bike. It is almost the best solution to have less pressure in the team, but with the best material."

Lucio Cecchinello, owner of the team, commented: “Every year we need to put more work and effort to be competitive. This year we are ready to open a new chapter in our racing history. Altogether we are very much focused to achieve the best results ever, and we feel proud to finally these historical colours on our bike. My history with Castrol began started many years ago because when I was racing in the Italian Sport Production category, I was sponsored by Castrol and using their products and I feel really honoured to be involved with Castrol in MotoGP. This year it will allow us to better prepare the season, adding some more human resources and budget into the project."
