In a few days Valentino Rossi will drive an LMP2 for the first time, the prototype cars that race in the world endurance championship. The official confirmation came from his team, WRT, which announced that the Doctor will be behind the wheel of the car on November 5, on the day of testing reserved for the rookies of the WEC championship on the Bahrain circuit, at the end of the last round of the championship.
It's no secret that Valentino would like to try his hand at the World Endurance Championship next year, not aboard a prototype but a GT3, to understand what the level is in that category. For the same reason, Rossi took part in the Road to Le Mans in recent months, winning it. It doesn't end there, because a test is also scheduled soon in the BMW Hypercar, the manufacturer of which he is an official driver.
“I’m very happy to be trying the LMP2 for the first time! – said Rossi – It’s a great opportunity from Team WRT, because we have plans for me to test the BMW Hypercar in the future. So, before testing that, I think it’s good experience to try the LMP2 as it’s similar in terms of downforce and I’m curious to understand my potential. I’m also looking forward to being in Bahrain to watch the final race of the season, and as I’m hoping to race in the WEC in the future, it will be good to understand the atmosphere and the structure of the event.”
