MotoGP, Agostini: "Marquez leaving Honda is incredible, I would understand it if he went to KTM"

Of course there is an unofficial denial from KTM, so all clues point to Gresini-Ducati. Ago: “Marc is the only rider in the world who has decided to leave Honda. I thought he would stay, with the guarantees of the biggest manufacturer in motorcycle racing"

MotoGP: Agostini:

Giacomo Agostini knew already. After all, the King of Kings of motorcycle racing never lets himself be caught unprepared.

He was the best, both as a rider and as a team manager because he never left any stone unturned and for this reason his first response on the Marquez case was sarcastic.

“Marc is the only rider in the world who has decided to leave Honda - he stated, then explained - I thought he would stay, with the guarantees of the largest manufacturer in motorcycle racing, with whose engines they are still winning in F1. And then there is the question of salary: who pays? As a result you give up 12 and a half million euros or more. There is something here that escapes all of us, something that doesn't add up to me!"

Ago left MV at the end of 1973. That too was an epochal change.

“Yes, but I changed from MV to Yamaha, which is the second largest manufacturer in the world - he specified, and added - then MV had finished its cycle at the end of 1973. The two-stroke engines had arrived. Just think that even my mechanics told me to change. They told me, Mazza, Castelli, Carrano. Giacomo, we tell you this with great regret, but for you it is better to change. We want to see you win again."

A lovely display of affection. You went from four to two strokes. Do you think Marc will have problems adapting to riding a different bike?

“But what adaptation? Hailwood raced with Honda, and then in Germany he got on an MZ two-stroke and won. If you are strong, if you were born to ride a motorbike, that's the motorbike. Sure you have to adapt, but it’s like going from flying a Citation or a Lear Jet: you have to learn where the buttons are. You need a few hours to understand where the buttons are."

There is still no statement about his arrival, even if all the clues point to Ducati with Gresini. But Pernat came up with a thought: what if it were KTM instead?

“Well, that seems more logical. KTM would have to do without a couple of riders, but it could do it without any problems, paying them. I honestly can’t see Marquez in Gresini, without an official bike and without any money!".

Obviously not only do all the clues point to Ducati Gresini, but there is also an unofficial denial from KTM. So now we just have to wait for the story to evolve. Don't miss our LIVE at 6pm on Facebook, YouTube and Twitch.
