MotoGP: Alex Rins returns to Spain after surgery to his right leg

Alex Rins is ready to return to Spain, after the surgery he underwent on Saturday evening, at the Careggi University Hospital in Florence, to stabilize the tibia and fibula of his right leg with an external fixator. He injured himself in the fall at the Arrabbiata 1 during the Sprint Race of Mugello.

The first step towards Rins' healing is to undergo a second surgery in Madrid later this week, in order to internally stabilize his bones and begin recovery. The LCR team rider will, therefore, have to miss the next two rounds, in Germany and in the Netherlands.

Lucio Cecchinello’s team has already announced that Alex won’t be replaced for the Sachsenring weekend, during which only Takaaki Nakagami will race. The only Honda rider to have seen the checkered flag in the Italian GP, crossing the finish line in 13th place.
