Moto2, QP: Marquez still on top at Jerez, Morbidelli 2nd

Total domination by the Marc VDS team , flying with the Kalex. Third for Aegerter with the Suter, Pasini and Bagnaia on second row

Moto2: QP: Marquez still on top at Jerez, Morbidelli 2nd

The most dangerous moment for Alex Marquez came two minutes before the end of qualifying, when the Marc VDS rider suffered a flat tyre, probably caused after Remy Gardner's bike came into accidental contact with his.

Aside from that, Alex has broken the Jerez track record for the Moto2 with a time of 1’42”080, sliding the bike left and right into every turn, just like his older brother Marc. This is Alex's first pole position in the Middle Class.

Just as spectacular was the performance by his team-mate Franco Morbidelli: the championship leader scored the second fastest time, just 0.046 behind, with a more rounded riding style through the turns. Franco didn't quite make pole but the Italian was working mainly on his race pace. Total domination by the Marc VDS team today.

The front row is rounded out by Swiss rider Aegerter on the Suter, despite a crash in the final stages; Poruguese Oliveira ride the KTM (powered by the Honda CBR) into fourth position, ahead of two Italians Mattia Pasini and Francesco Bagnaia, fifth and sixth respectively, with gaps of between five and six tenths.

Spaniard Xavi Vierge opens row three, Nakagami and Schrotter complete it. Behind Axel Pons, tenth, is Luca Marini, almost nine tenths from Marquez. Thom Luthi obtained twelfth place, just ahead of Simone Corsi with the Speed Up.

Rookie Jorge Navarro crashed during his fastest lap and closed in twenty-first place, ahead of Colombian Hernandez.
