The M1 has been the most "old style" bike in terms of aerodynamics, and Yamaha was well aware of this, to the extent that, since last year, it had overhauled the department, moving it to Italy, and also starting a collaboration with Dallara. We had alreadly seen their first experiments during the winter tests but, today in Jerez, they debuted with a version of the front fairing that was totally different than what we've seen so far.

First, the wing on the fairing changed, and it's now made up of 3 elements. Then there's a sort of "step" on the side. A solution first introduced by Aprilia and that "inspired" all its rivals. In addition, the lower diffusers (the so-called "ears") that Yamaha experimented with in the past also reappeared, but the rear remained the same.

For now, all these new solutions have been mounted onto Alex Rins' bike.
