MotoGP: Di Giannantonio: “I started from scratch this year and I got results”

Today Fabio Di Giannantonio can talk about his performance and not about the market voices that more or less directly involve him. The Motegi GP started on the right foot for the Gresini team rider, who proved to be competitive with his pace and fast in the flying lap, to the extent that he snatched a 6th position, which opened the doors to the Q2 for him.

I’m very happy because I was fast in the past four or five GPs, but not fast enough to be in the Q2,” Fabio said, satisfied. “Today was a solid day. I was quick on all the tires and also in the flying lap. I achieved my first goal. Now we have to work for a good qualification tomorrow. It was a good Friday, and I’m confident.

What are you aiming for tomorrow?
My ultimate goal is to stay in the first two rows, and it won’t be easy. There are many fast riders, but I expect to be able to get into the first three rows anyway.

You seem like another rider in Japan. What’s the reason for this change?
The bike is always the same, but now you have to work a lot with your team in the MotoGP and with yourself to build trust and reach this level. It takes time. This year we started from scratch because I hadn’t learned anything last season, and we’re progressing every day. Even last year’s data is useless. We’re getting results, and it’s only thanks to my hard work and the team’s.

How’s your injured shoulder?
I’ll have to take a strong painkiller tomorrow so I don’t feel pain. Last Sunday was a shame. I haven’t dropped out many times in my career, but the pain was too much, and I don’t want it to happen again.
